Samsung Gives Away Free Galaxy S6 Phones to Loyal Galaxy S Owners

Samsung Korea is giving away its new flagship smartphone to
loyal Galaxy S owners in South Korea, a local newspaper reports. The company
offered the new Samsung Galaxy S6 to SK Telecom customers who either bought all
Galaxy S-series smartphones or were still using the Galaxy S1, which was
launched back in 2010.</div>

The South Korean electronics giant on Tuesday held an event
to reward its loyal customers, and the report adds the customers were also
given one year's worth of free calls on SK Telecom. The South Korean mobile
operator claimed that 15 million customers of its customers had used at least
one Galaxy S-series smartphone while 17,000 were still using the Galaxy S1.</div>

Additionally, the operator revealed that more than 1,600
consumers bought all the 13 Galaxy S-series handsets unveiled in the country,
while 2,400 people bought more than 10.</div>

Samsung's new flagship Galaxy S6 was initially unveiled at
MWC and was launched in India last month at Rs. 49,900 for the 32GB variant.</div>

The Galaxy S6 feature 5.1-inch Quad HD (1440x2560 pixels)
Super Amoled display with a pixel density of 577ppi. The new Samsung Galaxy S6
runs Android 5.0 Lollipop and is powered by a 64-bit octa-core (quad-core
2.1GHz+ quad-core 1.5GHz) processor coupled with 3GB of RAM (LPDDR4). Three
storage variants are available: 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB.</div>

There is a 16-megapixel rear camera with OIS (optical image
stabilisation) and LED flash while there is a 5-megapixel front camera on
board. The new premium Galaxy handset also packs fingerprint scanning with an
enhanced touch-type fingerprint scanner on the home button. Additionally, the
handset comes pre-installed with upgraded Samsung Knox. It also comes preloaded
with Microsoft apps such as OneNote and OneDrive with 115GB cloud storage free
for 2 years.</div>

The Galaxy S6 is backed by a 2550mAh battery and for
connectivity supports LTE Cat. 6 featuring up to 300Mbps download speeds and

Samsung Galaxy A8 Price and Specifications Tipped

Samsung Galaxy A8, the successor to Galaxy A7, has appeared
in some hands-on images coming from China. The smartphone is said to be the
thinnest handset made by the company till date, with a thickness of 5.94mm.
Samsung hasn't yet confirmed the existence of the Galaxy A8 yet. The device's
release date has also been tipped by an e-commerce site, while the price has
been tipped separately.</div>

The images (via Phonearena) posted by Chinese website PC
Online show the smartphone from almost all the possible angles. The site also
claims to have done a hands-on with the Galaxy A8, confirming the
specifications of the smartphone. The Android 5.1.1 Android Lollipop-based
Galaxy A8 is said to boast metal side bezels and appears similar to the flagship
Galaxy S6 from the front. The unannounced phablet sports a 5.7-inch full-HD
Super AMOLED display and a fingerprint sensor doubling as the home button.</div>

The Galaxy A8 is said to be powered by a 64-bit octa-core
Snapdragon 615 SoC clocked at 1.5GHz, clubbed with 2GB of RAM and Adreno 405
GPU. The smartphone also features a 16-megapixel ISOCELL rear camera with LED
flash alongside a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It bears 16GB of inbuilt
storage, which can be further expanded via microSD card (unspecified limit). In
the connectivity section, the Samsung Galaxy A8 will reportedly house 4G LTE,
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and USB connectivity. The phablet measures
157.7x76.7x5.94mm and is backed by a 3050mAh battery.</div>

The Samsung phablet has surfaced on the Web multiple times
in the past few weeks. The device got certified on Tenaa last month, was shown
in a hand-on video recently, and also got revealed in a brochure. The brochure,
over the above-mentioned specifications, added that the Galaxy A8's rear camera
features an f/1.9 aperture while the smartphone is said to be powered an
octa-core Exynos 5430 SoC. However, it has been speculated that the single-SIM
version might run on Exynos SoC and the dual-SIM version on Snapdragon 615. The
smartphone is expected to be made available in Gold, White, and Black colours.</div>

Also, the Samsung Galaxy A8's release date has been tipped
by Chinese e-commerce site Suning Tesco, which has also started taking
pre-orders for the smartphone. As per the website, the Galaxy A8 for now would
be a China-only affair and will reach the markets starting July 17.
NowhereElse, a French website, states the smartphone will be priced at roughly
EUR 439 (roughly Rs. 30,800).</div>

Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy J2 has also showed-up on the
Web detailing full specifications. As per Sammobile, the Galaxy J1 successor
codenamed SM-J200F will sport a 4.5-inch WVGA (800x480 pixels) resolution TFT
LCD display and would be powered by Samsung's own quad-core 1.2GHz Exynos 3475
SoC, clubbed with 1.5GB RAM. The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop-based handset is said
to house a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera
alongside an 8GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via a microSD card
(unspecified limit). The device will measure 136x69x8.3mm and would sport
2000mAh battery. There is no word on the launch date of the handset.</div>

Furthermore, Samsung SM-G9198, which was spotted under GFX
benchmarks in May, is now being said to be a brand new flip phone by Samsung
and not a Galaxy Mini device as previously speculated. The handset has passed
the China's Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center (Tenaa), (via
Phonearena), revealing a bunch of specifications.</div>

As per the listing, the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop-based
smartphone features two 3.91-inch AMOLED HD displays and is powered by a
hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor clocked at 1.8GHz, clubbed with 2GB
RAM and Adreno 418 GPU. Also included is a 16-megapixel rear camera with LED
flash, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 16GB inbuilt storage, which can be
expanded via a mciroSD card (up to 128GB), and 4G LTE connectivity. The device
measures 119.7x66.6x16.7mm and weighs 191 grams. Samsung SM-G9198 might be the
successor to SM-9098, the flip phone that was launched in China last year.</div>

Xiaomi has announced a July 16 event where the company is
likely to reveal its flagship Mi 5 smartphone alongside the bigger variant Mi 5
Plus.</div>

The Chinese company confirmed the launch event in a teaser
post on Weibo and shared an image showing possibly the Mi 5 smartphone's side
with letters "PK" imprinted in the middle of the image. The teaser
invite confirms that the event will see a sleek smartphone launch; though at
this point it is not clear whether the company will be launching the Mi 5 or
another device.</div>

Further cementing speculations about the launch of Mi 5 is
the fact that the Xiaomi Mi 4 was launched in July (specifically on July 22)
last year. It is possible Xiaomi is gearing up to reveal successor to the 2014

Some of the preliminary leaks have suggested that the Xiaomi
Mi 5 would be priced at CNY 2,399 (approximately Rs. 24,500). It is said to

Glass 4; a Snapdragon 810 processor; a 16-megapixel rear camera; a 13-megapixel
front camera, and a 3000mAh battery. An earlier report also tipped that
Xiaomi's Mi 5 flagship will come with a built-in fingerprint scanner.</div>

The rumoured Xiaomi Mi 5 Plus, on the other hand, is said to

12-megapixel front camera.</div>

Considering that lately several reports have pointed to an

Adding to the previous leaks dealing with Xiaomi Mi 5 and
Redmi Note 2, two new images have surfaced on Chinese social networking site
Weibo. These images shows the handsets' back panels, offering more details
about the two smartphones.</div>

The first image (via Gizmochina) featuring the rumoured
Xiaomi Mi 5 shows the smartphone's dual-camera setup at the back along with
dual-LED flash. The rear panel of the rumoured smartphone show no sign of the
inclusion of a fingerprint sensor, which was rumoured earlier this week. The
back panel seems to have been made out of glass.</div>

Some of the other specifications being tipped for the
rumoured Xiaomi Mi 5 include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, 5.2-inch QHD

front-facing camera, 4GB of RAM, 16GB or 64GB of inbuilt storage, and 3000mAh
battery.</div>

The second image (via GforGames), said to be showing us a
glimpse of Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, features a smartphone with fingerprint sensor
placed below the rear camera and the LED flash. Seen in its silver colour
variant, the design of the handset goes in line with the last month's leaked
image, which also showed the rear panel of the unannounced Redmi Note 2.</div>

Unfortunately, the specifications of the handset in question
was not mentioned in the leak. The smartphone however, allegedly passed China's
Quality Certification Centre recently, tipping some innards. As per the
certification listing, the Redmi Note 2 is supposed to include a 5.5-inch
full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) display; a 13-megapixel rear camera; a 5-megapixel
front camera, and a battery larger than 3000mAh. 4G LTE connectivity is also
tipped. Two separate report claims the handset to feature either Mediatek's
Helio X10 (MT6795) chipset or Qualcomm's Snapdragon 410 (MSM8919) processor.</div>
